a great start for every child.

Diverse Learning

At Twerton Infant School, we want our children to look forward to coming to school. We pride ourselves on an integrative style that combines outdoor play and the national curriculum. We’ve found this encourages a sense of problem-solving and adventure.

We believe that play teaches children valuable life skills, and aim to promote curiosity and imagination activities that go beyond the classroom. In practice, this means the children experience a learning approach in which they work on projects that are relevant to them, their families, and their community.

Forest School and OPAL

Our Forest School and Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) programmes aim to support the whole child – including their physical, mental and emotional development.

These are an excellent opportunity to bring learning to life, allowing the children to explore and learn in a constructive way, offering them the opportunities to take risks, make choices and initiate learning for themselves.

Forest School

Our on-site Forest School offers a unique learning environment. Unlike traditional classrooms, this outdoor setting allows children to engage with nature directly. This diverse approach to education caters to different learning styles, making it accessible to all children.

Outdoor Play and Learning

By providing a safe and stimulating outdoor environment, OPAL encourages children to explore, experiment, and develop their creativity. Through hands-on activities and nature-based experiences, OPAL helps children build confidence, resilience, and a strong connection to the natural world.

Special Educational Needs

Twerton Nursery and Infant School is committed to the inclusion of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

We believe that all children should be equally valued in school, and we’re constantly striving to ensure that all of our children reach their full potential.

Emotional support

We also believe that wellbeing and relationships are crucial for learning.

We use the Thrive approach to help children learn to form successful relationships with friends and adults, and manage their emotions.
