Our on-site Forest School helps develop motor skills, self confidence and emotional awareness in the natural world
Forest School empowers children to take risks in a safe and supportive environment
We’re proud of our on-site Forest School, where children can explore, investigate and discover the natural world with our dedicated educator Emily Paterson-Russell.
Connecting children with nature
Forest School provides an excellent opportunity to bring learning to life. We use the outdoor environment as a teaching and learning tool, helping our children to explore and learn in an engaging way.
The children go out in all weathers (safety permitting), all year round, exploring and learning from seasonal changes to the environment.
As well as practical lessons about the natural world, many children benefit from the opportunities to take risks, make choices, and initiate learning that Forest School provides.
Many teachers and parents notice how these benefits and transferable skills are carried through to work in the classroom and to family life at home.
Some of the benefits our children receive from regular Forest School sessions
Confidence
Forest School helps children to grow in confidence as a result of the freedom, time and space they are given in their learning.
Social Skills
Activities such as sharing tools and participating in play help teach the children to work together as a group, strengthening their bonds.
Communication
The sensory experiences provided by Forest School’s helps prompt language development.
Concentration
Spending time in the woodland is exciting for a child, developing a strong will to participate and concentrate over long periods of time.
