2 year olds – robins room

A warm and nurturing start to your child’s journey

Child Leaning on Nursery Fence

Care, comfort, and support

In our Robins Room, for 2 year olds, children have a lot of fun. They’re cared for, comforted and supported while they play with a range of toys, sing songs, explore their environment and learn to play alongside other children.

They also sit to eat snacks and lunch with each other, and build confidence in conversation. We have 12 places in our Robins Rooms for each session (morning and afternoon).

The importance of early-years exploration

Children start learning from the moment they’re born. Those early interactions are incredibly important, and the first years of a child’s life can be fundamental to their later development.

Research suggests that children greatly benefit from attending nursery from the age of two onwards. At this stage, children are building the confidence to separate from their parents for short periods of time, and can start learning to form relationships with other trusted adults and children.

WHY US

A gentle and effective early learning experience

Our Robins Room curriculum provides a balance of both staff-planned and child-initiated activities with plenty of outdoor learning including time in our on-site Forest School.

Full-group activities

Designed to bring all children together for shared learning experiences, things like song time, rhyming games, and ball games encourage cooperation, build a sense of community, and help children develop important social and communication skills.

Small-group activities

We believe small group activities foster creativity, social skills, and personalised learning. Through table activities, matching games, and sunshine circles, children engage in hands-on projects, collaborate with peers, and receive focused attention from our educators

Individual activities

Individual activities are tailored to meet each child’s unique interests and developmental needs. These focused tasks allow children to explore, create, and learn at their own pace, fostering independence and critical thinking.

TIMINGS AND COSTS

Robins Room

We offer very competitive session rates for our 2 year-old nursery provision, led by our very experienced Room leader, Jo Russell. Many private providers will add additional resource or consumables costs on to session charges. We don’t.

Independence

We aim to develop children’s independence by providing encouragement and support, and embracing a ‘can do’ philosophy.

Innovation

We value children’s ideas through involving them in planning the work they do and drawing on and extending their existing knowledge.

Curiosity

We encourage children to be curious about the world around them and aim to follow their interests in both planned and spontaneous activities.

Collaboration

We help children develop their social skills with opportunities to work and play in groups, allowing them to learn collaboratively.

What parents say

I couldn’t recommend Twerton Infants School and Nursery any more if I tried. The staff are genuinely lovely, kind and caring. The nursery feels very home-y and nurturing. I love knowing if my son needed a reassuring hug none of them would give it a second thought, they’re truly kind and care for every child there.
