Our Reception classes offer a friendly and accommodating environment for a positive start to your child’s education, helping to build the skills that will help throughout their school experience.

Foundation Stage Two

In Foundation Stage 2 (Reception) we aim to develop respect for others, social competence and a positive attitude towards learning.

Getting to know each child helps us to develop their confidence and self-esteem by tailoring our classes to their strengths and interests. 

The pillars of our Foundation Stage 2 

Literacy & Numeracy

We aim to give our children a good grounding in the basic skills of literacy and numeracy, to enable them to have a positive start in Key Stage 1.

Outdoor Play

Forest School, field trips to Bath City Farm, and Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) help develop the children’s independence through hands-on experience of nature and the outdoors.

Creativity

We provide an environment that fosters creative learning, helping the children to develop both physically, personally, socially and emotionally.

Physical Activity

We provide plenty of opportunities for our children to be active, developing their coordination and control. They are also helped to understand the importance of physical activity and making healthy choices in relation to food.
