Year Two
Our Year Two program encourages curiosity and independence, fostering a love for learning in a supportive and nurturing environment.
With hands-on activities and collaborative projects, children gain confidence and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
An exciting stage
Year Two is an exciting stage in a child’s learning journey, building on the foundations from Year One.
At this level, learners continue to develop core skills in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking, while also exploring a broader curriculum that includes science, history, and the arts.
English
In Year Two, our children explore character, settings, and story creation, as well as poetry and constructing non-fiction books.
They become more confident writers and take part in regular guided reading groups that include listening to and reading chapter books. Our Phonics and Reading program encourages the children to be independent learners and think for themselves.
Maths
In Year 2 maths we start to work with bigger numbers, investigating and exploring new challenges — this includes discovering patterns in numbers, and even using multiple zeroes!
Many children use hands-on aids to help them understand two digit numbers. We encourage our children to think like mathematicians — asking questions, solving problems, and finding ways to use maths in everyday ways.
